LINK UP MINISTRIES IS SEEKING A NOT-FOR-PROFIT STATUS AS A COMMUNITY MINISTRY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF PASTOR BARRY AND BRENDA SMITH.
The purpose of LINK UP MINISTRIES is to organize and provide direction to volunteers from churches, private sectors, humanitarian organizations, Christian motorcycle clubs, and other like-minded people groups in providing goods, assistance, and services to the homeless, to transients, to rescue shelter clients, to the economically challenged, underprivileged, at-risk teens, and needy folks around the Huntington,WV; and Chesapeake, OH area.
GOODS, ASSISTANCE, AND SERVICES PROVIDED BY VOLUNTEERS OF LINK UP MINISTRIES:
Assistance with utility deposits is occasionally provided for transients, poor, and homeless people who are seeking to move off of the streets and into rental apartments and houses. LINK UP MINISTRIES has been there to help disadvantaged people procur legal documentations such as photo I.D.s. Social Security cards, birth certificates, drivers' licenses, court documents, veteran's benefits, etc.
Meals, food supplies, seasonal clothing, hygiene supplies, blankets, tents, sleeping bags, cooking utensils, and basic apartment-style furniture.
Through a small network of volunteers committed to the vision of LINK UP MINISTRIES, transportation is arranged for non-drivers to and from stores, doctors' appointments, bus terminals, laundry facilities, business offices, churches, job appointments, and places of employment.
In some occasions, cars and vans have been donated to LINK UP MINISTRIES and these vehicles have been freely given to capable, legally insured and licensed disadvantaged people for use as transportation to and from work.
